Effective date: 15 September 2026
This policy covers the Acqua Alta app for iOS and Android (“the app”). The app is made by Michal Kovařík, an individual developer, who is the data controller under the GDPR.

This data never leaves your device and is deleted when you uninstall the app.
When you tap the locate button, the app asks permission to use your location while the app is open. Your location is used only to show your position on the flood map. It is not stored, not sent to me, and not shared with Google or anyone else. The app never uses your location in the background. You can withdraw the permission at any time in your device settings.
To show live data, the app downloads public files directly from:
Like any internet request, these send your IP address and basic technical details (such as your operating system) to those servers. The app sends them nothing else about you. Their own privacy policies apply.
The app shows ads from Google AdMob, provided by Google LLC (and by Google Ireland Limited in the EEA and Switzerland). The app requests non-personalised ads only. These are chosen from context, such as the app itself and your approximate location, not from a profile of you. The app does not ask permission to track you across other companies’ apps and websites.
To serve ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance and prevent fraud, Google’s software in the app collects:
The legal basis is my legitimate interest in funding a free app through non-personalised ads (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). Google processes this data as described at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and in its privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
I hold no data about you, so there is nothing for me to keep or delete. Data on your device is kept until you uninstall the app or clear its data. Google keeps ad data according to its retention policy: https://policies.google.com/technologies/retention
Under the GDPR and similar laws, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your personal data, to object to its processing, and to complain to your national data protection authority. I hold no personal data about you. For data Google collects through ads, use Google’s privacy tools: https://policies.google.com/privacy#infochoices. You can stop all data collection by the app by uninstalling it. For any question, contact me at the address above.
The app is not directed at children under 13, or under 16 in countries where that is the age of digital consent.
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
